In the realm of the honeyed twilight’s embrace,
She slumbered, a girl, with youthful grace,
Her lashes kissed by the morning’s first light,
A dream-veiled nymph in the soft hues of night.
Beneath the gentle moon’s shimmering gleam,
She danced with forest blooms in a secret dream,
A poetess unknown, her heart’s verses flowed,
From the depths of her being, like a river they showed.
Fawn-like eyes, so tender and bright,
Honeyed whispers adorned her every sight,
With the touch of dawn’s first golden ray,
She awakened as the world began its day.
The fawns bestowed their gentle gaze,
The bees adorned her with a golden blaze,
In the realm of love, she did imbibe,
The chakor pined, in love’s eternal vibe.
The azure sky, a dreamy expanse so wide,
Gifted her the dreams of an oceanic ride,
The cuckoo sang, “Drink, oh, drink your fill,”
Teaching her the mantra, a love so still.
The mountains beckoned, she ran so fast,
Through the valleys deep, a river’s cast,
A fearless leap, she sought the way,
Chanting, “Drink, oh, drink!” as she danced away.
In the heart of the woods, she found her place,
Amidst the wilderness, a harmonious embrace,
The tendrils of nature crowned her queen,
In the forest’s attire, she remained unseen.
The icy waters mirrored her reflection so fair,
A vision that left her in a love-struck stare,
She yearned for love’s enchanting glance,
Melted away, in a single fleeting chance.
She collided with the mountain’s sturdy grace,
Brushed against the stone in a wild chase,
From her mother’s abode, she did depart,
Never to return, with a resolute heart.
With a daring dive, she left her home behind,
Singing, “Drink, oh, drink!” as she was redefined,
The land embraced her as she ventured on,
A tale of “Drink, oh, drink!” in her melodious song.
The land’s beauty clung to her like a glove,
From the mountain’s peak to the forest grove,
She adorned herself in nature’s attire,
In the garb of the river, her soul caught fire.
In the lap of the snowy Himalayan expanse,
She gazed upon her reflection, entranced,
In the thirst for her beloved’s sight,
She dissolved, merging into the night.
One fateful day, the earth quivered and shook,
She fled, with haste, her eyes on the brook,
Concealing herself in a cluster of reeds,
She ventured on, her destiny’s seeds.
From the grove of trees, she emerged anew,
Hastening, with every step, her purpose in view,
In a meadow of grass and a field of bloom,
She danced, becoming love’s sweet perfume.
Oh, divine forest! Don’t signal my return,
Oh, lake! Don’t capture me in your churn,
Oh, river! Hold your banks, don’t enclose,
The path of a wanderer, as she freely flows.
Whose voice calls from a distance afar?
As I listen, it’s you, the celestial star,
Mother Earth, with your gentle plea,
Oh, river, with speed, take me to the sea.
I am the seeker, on a journey divine,
Beloved path, reveal yourself, let your light shine,
In which temple, on which sacred bed,
Does “Meera” lay her weary head?
Lost in the labyrinth of this forest path,
In Radha’s grove, with love as its wrath,
Which flute do I follow, sweet Krishna, show,
Guide me with signs, let your love’s river flow.
A pilgrim am I, embarking on this quest,
Beloved path, reveal yourself, be my best,
In which sacred grove, in Radha’s grace,
Shall I find you, my love, in this eternal chase?
